My reaction on HIV among Call Center agents news feeds from TV Patrol
TV PATROL news was very disappointing regarding the news about HIV among CALL CENTER AGENTS last January 28, 2010 and it was aired again on January 29, 2010.
I was starting my day in the office, one of my colleagues posted in our Communicator about the news from ABS CBN. The Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) in the Call Center workforce. I was deeply shocked from what I’ve read and when I got home I immediately accessed the world wide web to watch it.
I was able to watch the following news segments:
Sex diseases also on the rise, says DOH
HIV-AIDS incidence among yuppies rising: DOH
HIV-AIDS victims getting younger
I was not totally convinced about the news. They didn't even have enough resources to strengthen their claim pertaining to call center agents getting HIV and it’s clearly shown as a one sided report. The way it was delivered was generally DEGRADING for most of us working in this industry. In my own point of view the news was raw and pretty much reported in a hurry.
Sexually transmitted disease is all over there before call center became a household name. If you work in a call center it doesn't mean that you are a carrier of STD, we can get it from everywhere and anywhere.
This was very degrading on our part because this will have a very negative impact on our personal lives. Another stereotyping is on the rise. I was truly DISAPPOINTED on the news.
